Benjamin Linder, CEO

Ben served as Sr. Vice President of Marketing for Openwave Systems Inc. (previously phone.com) from 1996 until 2001. He was responsible for market strategy, outbound marketing, developer marketing, and corporate identity. Ben was a member of the Executive Committee of phone.com and Openwave Systems.

Ben was at Oracle Corporation from 1987 to 1995. His most recent position was Vice President of Marketing, co-founding Oracle's New Media Division. Prior to working in the New Media division Ben was Director of Technical Services for the Massively Parallel Systems Division. Additional positions included engineering management and product management positions in the Network Systems Division.

Ben holds BS degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Alan Cooper, VP Engineering Operations and Information Technology

Alan served as Vice President of Product Development and Engineering of Openwave Systems Inc. (previously phone.com) from 1999 to 2003. He was responsible for the Japan territory and previously the full product lifecycle, including product management, engineering, and customer support of the Product Technology Group.

Alan was at Rational Software (previously PureSoftware) from 1995 to 1999, where he was a lead engineer in the Developer Tools Group.

Before working at Rational, Alan was at Cadence Design Systems (previously Solomon Design Automation) from 1987 to 1995, a Computer Aided Design Automation Company, where he was Senior Manager of the Framework Division and previously a lead engineer responsible for the development of their Design Framework II integrated circuit design product.

Alan began his career at General Electric (previously RCA). He holds a BS degree in Computer Science from Temple University and post graduate work at Temple University and Santa Clara University .

Andrew Duncan, SVP Business Development

Before joining Scalent, Andrew was VP, Sales and Business Development for Cassatt Corporation. Andrew has also served as VP, Field Operations and Business Development for Egenera, Inc, where he built the company's global field operations unit. Prior to joining Egenera, Andrew worked for EMC Corporation, where he co-founded an independent operating unit to develop business solutions for content management.

Chandy Nilakantan, Chief Technology Officer

Chandy Nilakantan was the chief technology officer of SkyStream Networks where he provided strategic technical direction for the development of new real-time video and content routing products and technologies. Chandy served as vice president of engineering at SkyStream from March 1998 to May 2000.

Previously, Chandy was vice president and general manager of the Enterprise WAN Division at 3Com. In this role, he managed 3Com's enterprise routing and remote access businesses, including R&D, product development and marketing. During his 10 years at 3Com, Chandy served in several engineering and general management positions. Prior to his tenure at 3Com, Chandy was a software developer with Rolm Corporation and before that at Swift.

Chandy received a BS in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India and a MS in Engineering Management from Santa Clara University, California.

Karen Randig, Chief Financial Officer

Karen has extensive experience managing all aspects of finance, accounting, legal and human resources. Prior to joining Scalent, Karen served as interim CFO for several venture-backed companies in the enterprise software, internet, and medical device industries. Previously, Karen was CFO for BizGenics, a provider of customer management software, and VP of Finance for diCarta, a contract management software company.

Prior to diCarta, Karen held positions at Dun & Bradstreet in the Corporate Mergers & Acquisitions group and as V P of Finance for the Information Warehouse Solutions business unit.

Karen holds an MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Management and a BA in Mathematics and Economics from Bowdoin College.

Lawrence Stein, VP Engineering

Larry has a long history of engineering entrepreneurship in emerging technologies. Prior to Scalent, he served as a senior architect at phone.com and as one its earliest engineers, helped pioneer the wireless web. After phone.com merged with software.com and became Openwave Systems, Larry led the design and implementation of the Openwave IP Voicemail product (a carrier grade IP voicemail system).

Before working at phone.com, Larry was a lead engineer at MicroUnity Systems in the interactive television group and prior to MicroUnity, he was one of the early engineers at EO Inc, a pioneer in the handheld and pen computing market.

Larry holds a BS degree in Applied Mathmatics from Carnegie Mellon University and is the named inventor on over twelve software patents.
